A very competitive weekend in the British GT Championship at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps saw Jan and his teammate Will collect points for a 3rd and 4th in the two races.

After the free practices, the pace looked promising and Jan managed to qualify 3rd in the GT4 PRO qualifying, while his teammate William Phillips also managed to take 3rd in the AM session. With a great starting position for both races, race 1 saw William Phillips at the wheel for the start of the race. After 2 long safety car periods in the first stint, Jan jumped in for the final stint with the whole grid bunched up. And due to the Silver/Silver driver rating of Jan and William they had 14 seconds added to their minimum pitstop time. So, when Jan came out on track it was in 5th overall in GT4 where he also finished after battles with the 2 cars in front of him. After the race, the McLaren that finished just ahead of Jan got disqualified for the whole weekend which saw Jan get 4th overall and score points for a 3rd, as the winning car was an invitational entry.

“We had good pace in the race and it's good to get another strong finish. Although we scored points for third place, we didn't get to go on the real podium, because the Invitational Class car won - so we'll just have to have some imaginary trophies!”, smiled Jan after race 1.

The second race saw Jan start the car from 2nd as the McLaren that should have started there were disqualified. After a chaotic start Jan lost a few places but he stayed out as the other cars pitted in front of him, which meant he brought the car in, still in contention for a podium finish. William Phillips where in the car for the last stint which saw him loose out in the final battle for the overall podium due to GT3 traffic. Therefore, Jan and William finished 5th overall and 4th in the points in the last race.

“The start was really a mess and afterwards there were ongoing battles in the top 5 involving a lot of cars. I stayed out as the others pitted which meant that when Will came in the car, we were still in contention for a podium finish. We were running 3rd but unfortunately Will got caught out by some GT3 traffic, which meant we just missed out on a podium in a photo finish. Good points collected this weekend though and we showed that we absolutely have the pace!”, said Jan after the nail-biting finish of race 2.
