“Rockingham proved to somewhat of a challenge for us”, smiled Jan. “Saturday was wet all day and we struggled with tyres and general grip for the whole of it, which ended up putting Tom Wood and I on P20 in qualy. We remained quite optimistic though, since the race on Sunday seemed to be a dry one. I knew if we solved our issues we would have the pace to move up the order.”

“In the race Tom did a great job carving his way through the field in the first stint, which meant halfway through the race he handed me the car inside the top 10. We got jumped by a PRO/AM car in the pits due to our longer pit stop time as we are a silver pairing. After two safety cars within the first ten laps of my stint I pushed hard to see if we could get further up the order. I ended up passing a McLaren for P8, but unfortunately, I started struggling a lot with tyre degradation which meant I had to give up the position later in the stint. Eventually there was a gap to the cars in front and a massive one to the cars behind, so I just tried to bring the car home in the end, and we ended P9 overall and P7 in silver.”

“I feel it was a good effort from Tom and I to gather some more points after a really tough race where we started from the back. We know we have the potential for far greater results and hopefully we get to show that at Snetterton next time out!”

“I also want to thank the all the guys in Academy Motorsport LTD for a mega job (again) this weekend, and a big congrats to my boss Matt and his teammate Will with their well-deserved podium.”

“So, bring on Snetterton!”
